The Salinas Air Show - also known as the Salinas International Air Show and the California International Airshow - is held each year at the Salinas airport, right off Highway 101. It's a great show with aerobatic teams from around the world. Past participants have been the Navy Blue Angels and the Canadian Snowbirds teams.
Air shows are great and exciting events. I can remember being taken to a show by my parents long ago and can still recall the thrill of seeing the Blue Angels perform their amazing maneuvers. And yes, they were flying jets even back then...
The Salinas Air Show is an exciting event that takes place each September. It is the largest airshow on the Central Coast and is well-attended. The 2013 edition is the 33nd year for this event.
The 2013 event will be taking place September 21 and 22 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Salinas airport.
Participants this year will include Chuck Hall in his WWII Era P-51 Mustang, the Patriots and Russian MIG-17 demonstration.
Beside the aerobatic teams appearing there will also be Monster trucks, military demos, military fly-bys, Robosaurus and a special Vietnam tribute. A Carl's Jr sponsored "Kid Zone" will be available.
The gates open at 9AM and the flying begins at 12 each day. As mentioned above, there are many other displays as well as numerous vendors of food and gift items.
