We love the central coast of California. There is so much to see and do in this great area.

Recently we took the kids to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The kids loved getting up close and learning so much about the different kinds of life in our local ocean.

After a half of day at the aquarium we took a boat ride out and went whale watching. We saw eight whales on our two hour boat ride :) We were lucky enough to see two kinds of whales as well as two mothers with their young ones. Even though none of the whales breached out of the water, we did see their beautiful tails as they dove deep into the ocean eating the krill.

We learned on this visit that the central coast ocean is some of the richest waters in the world. The canyons beneath the water attract a variety of marine life. The culture beneath the water is as rich as the land.

The weather was foggy in the morning but by about 11 am the fog had lifted and the sun was shining. We ended our day having ice cream at Cannery Row. The kids slept in the back seat as we drove 2 1/2 hours home.

The smell of ocean air and old town feel is very comfortable to us.

I highly recommend to anyone considering visiting the area to do so. The drive along Highway One is one that is breathtaking, relaxing and something you will never forget.
